Building Young Readers
The Russellville Lions Club Foundation started this project 4 years ago in an effort to encourage reading by the children of our community.  By partnering with Child Development, Inc. 50 children were identified as the recipients of a brand new solid wood bookcase with a starter set of 15 age appropriate books.  The children this year were ages 3 and 4.

According to Dr. Suess, "You have brains in your head.  You have shoes on your feet. You can steer yourself any direction you choose!  The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

The vision of the members of the Russellville Lions Club is help to raise the literacy rates among young children in Russellville by providing personalized bookcases and an appropriate starter set of books.
